What to notice
If your child stumbles, where tells you more than the score. A wrong ratio or division problem usually means the reasoning step — not the arithmetic — needs a nudge. Talk it through, then try a similar question a few days later so it sticks. That short-and-spaced rhythm beats last-minute cramming every time.
About the Year 5 test
Year 5 NAPLAN has four domains — Reading, Writing, Language Conventions and Numeracy — sat in a two-week March window. Since 2023 it runs online with adaptive testing, and Year 5 Writing is typed (unlike Year 3's paper task). Getting your child comfortable at a keyboard, and on-screen generally, helps the format feel familiar on the day.
