Key facts about the HAST Primary
Used across Australia
The HAST is administered by ACER and used by selective and independent schools nationally for entry and scholarship selection.
Abstract reasoning included
Unlike many other tests, the HAST includes Abstract Reasoning — figure series, matrix completion, and pattern recognition.
Primary level (Years 4–5)
Our practice targets the HAST Primary level, which ACER sets by your child's current year level — Years 4 and 5, for entry into Years 5 and 6. From Year 6, schools use a Secondary level.
Each school sets its date
There is no national HAST date — schools arrange their own sessions. Check your target school's dates and registration deadline.
Why PrepKit works
What your child sees, and what you see
Questions that adapt to your child
Questions are chosen for the topics your child gets wrong, and get harder as they improve. Every answer is marked straight away with the working shown. When they're stuck, a tutor gives a hint rather than the answer.
- More questions on the topics they find hardest
- The working shown for every question
- A hint when they're stuck, not the answer

AI feedback on every piece of writing
Your child writes to a test-style prompt against the clock, then gets marked on the spot: a score for each of six criteria and specific things to fix next time.
- Scored on content, structure, vocabulary and mechanics
- Specific fixes for each area, not general praise
- Timed prompts that match the real test format
Know exactly where they stand
No more guessing. See your child's streaks, weekly activity, overall progress, and mastery across every topic — all in one place.
- Daily streaks to build consistent habits
- Per-topic mastery across all subjects
- Weekly activity and improvement trends

Practice they'll come back to
Right answers earn coins. Coins buy a character to dress up and a few minutes of a game. The work itself is laid out as one path from the first lesson to test day, so there is always a clear next step and sessions end while they're still keen.
- Coins for correct answers, spent on games and a character of their own
- One path from first lesson to test day, with a single Continue button
- Ten-question sessions that finish before attention does
Simple, affordable pricing
Less than the cost of one tutoring session — for a whole year of practice
